Introduction

This Policy applies to the Jersey Aero Club (JAC) and JAC (General Aviation) Limited), a limited company owned by the Jersey Aero Club.  All references to JAC should be regarded as meaning both the Jersey Aero Club and JAC (General Aviation) Limited. The affairs of the JAC are managed by an executive body (the “Committee”) pursuant to the terms of the Constitution of the Jersey Aero Club.

The Jersey Aero Club (the “Club”) is a privately run members club with the following mission:

  • To operate as an integral part of the Jersey Aviation community;
  • To provide a safe, modern, welcoming meeting place for Club Members (the “Members”), visiting pilots, their passengers and members of other aero clubs;
  • To foster and develop an interest in aviation in all its aspects and supporting local charities;
  • To provide a sustainable home for the provision of flying tuition, aircraft rental, pleasure flights and management of visiting aircraft;
  • Develop and manage General Aviation (“GA”) in Jersey;
  • Develop a relationship with other Clubs and Societies;
  • Develop and significantly expand Club Membership in order to encourage and foster an interest in aviation; and
  • Ensure that the finances of the Club are sustainable and built on solid foundations.

What type of information we have

We currently collect and process the following information:

Members
Information relevant to the set-up and maintenance of your membership.

Employees
Information to allow us to comply with our statutory obligations as an employer, performance monitoring, training and health information as you may provide to us or linked to any workplace incident.

Suppliers
Information relevant to the service you provide to us and linked details regarding service delivery management, issue escalation and payment.

Club visitors and Visiting General Aviation
Where relevant, information to allow us to adhere to health & safety regulation, and to ensure settlement of any fees that may be due by you to the Club or to Ports of Jersey Limited where the Club has fee collection responsibilities.

CCTV footage
Video footage is recorded in recorded in accordance with our CCTV Policy for a number of legitimate business purposes including security, personal safety of staff, members, visitors, and other members of the public, for secure operation of airside access, and for the investigation of airside incidents.  Images recorded by CCTV systems are personal data which must be processed in accordance with data protection legislation and our CCTV Policy helps us comply with these obligations.

Potential Members / Employees / Suppliers / Club visitors
Personal data that is provided by these categories of Data Subjects may be collected from time to time in order to consider suitability of applications.

Under the Data Protection (Jersey), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are where:

How the Club collects information about you

The Club collect information about you in a number of ways as follows:

  • Via information that you send / submit to the Club;
  • Via referrals from trusted third parties who refer you to the Club;
  • Through third-party suppliers such as direct business referrals, and indirectly for example via website analytic providers.
  • Through CCTV surveillance operated for our legitimate business purposes.

How the Club processes information through its website

The Club’s website collects certain information automatically and stores it in log files. The information collected may include:

  • other usage information about the use of the website, including a history of the pages you view.


The Club uses this information to help it design its site to better suit its users’ needs. 

The Club may also use your IP address to help diagnose problems with its server and to administer its website, analyse trends, track visitor movements, and gather broad demographic information that assists us in identifying visitor preferences.

The club also uses forms on its website to gather information relating to the attendance of events and to allow members to send in requests.

The Club has a legitimate interest in understanding how its clients, employees and potential clients and employees use its website.  This assists the Club to provide more relevant products and services, and to provide appropriate staffing to meet client and service delivery needs.

How we use Cookies

The Club’s use of cookies is limited to those required by the third parties who host and manage our website and our various social media sites and it does not intentionally track or monitor anyone directly.

To help protect the privacy of data and personally identifiable information, data is stored securely and access to your personal data is to those employees, Committee members and Suppliers who need to know that information to provide benefits or services to you.

Retention Periods

We keep information for only as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected. Retention periods are applied according to the classification of the data type and the purpose for which it is held. The relevant retention periods may be disapplied in certain situations, including where evidence is required in civil and criminal matters.

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability –  You have the right to ask that we transfer the information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

If you object to processing or withdraw your consent, this may affect our ability to deliver services to you.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have four weeks to respond to you.”
