New Airside Access Procedures from Wednesday 5 October 2022

This page is to highlight the changes to airside access from 5 October 2022 for club members with airside access.

Visiting GA and Flight Training will be handled by the JAC Flying Desk, but this information is for club members who need airside access.

The following two presentation given at the club to members on 30 June 2022 provide background as to the reasons for the changes:

All members requiring airside access from 5 October 2022 will now need, in addition to their membership card, a JAC Sponsored Airport Identity Card (AIC). When you are provided your AIC you will be given a copy of a Security Briefing that outlines your responsibilities as a security pass holder. You can review this by clicking here.

Airside Access from 5 October 2022 onwards

A summary of the new requirements are that members need to have an Airport Identity Card (AIC), be physically verified (in person or over CCTV), and list escorted persons that they take with them.

Taking passengers or other people airside – new Airside Access Log requirement

  1. Club member must have valid AIC
  2. Club member must complete Airside Access Log if taking ‘escorted persons’
    1. If taking passengers flying, or taking people out to show them their aircraft then an airside access log must be completed (number and names of escorted persons)
    2. Log can be completed at https://www.jerseyaeroclub.com/jac_aal/
    3. Note – if a Gendec is sent in, then you don’t need to complete an airside access log entry during JAC Flying Desk working hours (08:30-18:00), but always needs to be completed out of hours
  3. Escorted persons must have government ID (driving license or passport) unless under 16
  4. A computer is available just inside the airside access door in the event that this has not been done or needs to be done when at the club.
  5. This does not apply to any passengers who hold their own AIC and have airside access
  6. Gendecs must be completed, if required, in addition to the Airside Access Log
    1. Note – if a Gendec is sent in, then you don’t need to complete an airside access log entry during JAC Flying Desk working hours (08:30-18:00), but always needs to be completed out of hours
  7. The Airside Access Log entries are maintained for 30 days at the request of POJ for security purposes

Two or more members with airside access flying together – Airside Access Log not required

  1. Each member must have and present valid AIC to go airside
  2. No requirement for completing Airside Access Log

Airside Access During JAC Flying Desk Operational Hours (08:30-18:00)

  1. Club member must have valid AIC
  2. Club member must have completed Airside Access Log if taking escorted persons
    1. Note – if a Gendec is sent in, then you don’t need to complete an airside access log entry during JAC Flying Desk working hours (08:30-18:00), but always needs to be completed out of hours
  3. Club member must present themselves and their card to JAC Flying Desk Staff so that they can verify the member matches the AIC and the photo etc is clear
    1. If taking escorted persons, each escorted person should have their government ID ready to present to JAC Flying Desk Staff to check against the Airside Access Log
  4. Club member presents their AIC to the door reader
    1. The door reader verifies the pass is valid and displays card status on screen to JAC Flying Desk Staff
  5. JAC Flying Desk Staff press the door release
  6. Club member escorts escorted persons through the door

Airside Access Outside JAC Flying Desk Operational Hours

  1. Club member must have valid AIC
  2. Club member must have completed Airside Access Log if taking escorted persons
  3. Club member uses their membership card to gain access to the club and the flying room
  4. Club member presents their AIC to the door reader
  5. This will automatically flag up in the POJ TOCC (Terminal Operations Control Center – also known as CCTV room)
  6. TOCC will verify member with photo on card using CCTV camera above the door reader
  7. If taking escorted persons, each escorted person will then show their government ID to the CCTV camera above the door reader and the TOCC will verify them against the Airside Access Log
  8. TOCC will then release the airside door and monitor the pass holder and escorted persons as the club member escorts escorted persons through the door.

Access back into the club from airside

  1. This will be very similar to the current process except that the club member presents their AIC to the external door reader
  2. The door will release instantly

Keeping AIC valid (must be used at least every 60 days)

  1. AIC must be used every 60 days otherwise it is ‘parked’
  2. A Parked AIC needs a visit to the POJ ID Centre to ‘un-park’ it and there is a charge of £20
  3. If you have no requirement to go airside, you can come up to the club and tell JAC Flying Desk Staff you are validating your AIC
    1. Present AIC to door reader
    2. JAC Flying Desk Staff will confirm AIC is shown as valid
  4. If you know you are going to be away more than 60 days in advance, please contact memsec@jerseyaeroclub.com in advance to discuss how to deal with this.
