Today, 5th March 2026, is the 90th anniversary of the first flight of the Supermarine Spitfire (serial K5054).
To mark this anniversary, Spitfires.com has repainted one of its two-seat Spitfires (BS410) in the colours of K5054.
In partnership with the Royal Air Force, the aircraft will tour the UK in a series of 9 flights, one for each decade since 1936. Each flight will be accompanied by a modern RAF aircraft and will carry one member of the public in the Spitfire’s rear seat.
The aims of the event:
1. To create a national commemoration of the Spitfire’s first flight.
2. To showcase how RAF aircraft technology has advanced since 1936.
3. To raise funds for supported charities.
Seats for all 9 flights will be auctioned to the public, with all proceeds going to charity. Full details are available at https://www.spitfires.com/spitfire90
Alternatively, if you would like the opportunity to fly in a Spitfire locally over #jerseyci, Spitfires.com will be returning to Jersey Airport 27th-28th May 2026.
