Treasurer's Update - November

Re: 2011 Jersey Aero Club AGM and Committee

As you are all aware, the AGM is looming and I think it only fair to update all of you on what the team is proposing in terms of how they intend to stand for 2012.

At the last committee meeting Simon Harman pointed out that he has been involved with the Aeroclub committee for nearly 6 years now.  In addition, now that he has become an established flying instructor with over 100 hours of instruction logged last year, he felt there was a potential for conflict between being Chairman and acting as a paid flying instructor for the Club.  So in his view, it was only professional if he stepped down from his role as Chairman after the AGM.

The team discussed this at length with Simon and it was felt his experience in the affairs of the Club was necessary in terms of continuity and his new contribution as an active instructor was again highly valuable.  Given that developing how the Club delivers flying services will play an absolutely critical part in the Club's future the team prevailed on him to remain on the Committee so he could support that strategy and play a key role in shaping the flying and training function of the Club.

In the end the working arrangement that was agreed between all parties was that James Fox would stand for the role of Treasurer and Dale Ibbotson would stand for Chairman.  To this end we preserve the infrastructure of an effective management team that has delivered on many fronts over the last year, has bedded down in terms of skill sets and roles - and still has much to do in 2012.

Hence the proposed committee infrastructure will be:

Dale Ibbotson - Chairman

James Fox - Treasurer

Michael Boarer - Secretary 

Rupert Maddox- Project and Flying

Simon Harmon - Director of Flying

During the AGM, Dale Ibbotson will give a detailed presentation, showing exactly how the Club has progressed and how the financial losses have now been reversed.  A key part of the presentation will be the core priorities for 2012 and how the committee intend to deliver on the vision of "affordable flying and a Club we all want to be part of"
