Spot landing competition ... The Results!
The Spot Landing Competition on Sunday 15th January was held on
Sunday 15th January in almost perfect weather! The contest consists
of each competitor climbing to 2000 feet to the south of the
Airfield, then moving to the overhead in preparation for a glide
descent to land as near as possible to the centre of the fixed
distance markers opposite the PAPI lights. Each competitor has 2
attempts with an Instructor aboard at all times to liase with ATC,
mark the landing and calm the 'red mist' of competition that
overcomes some competitors as they near the landing mark...The
weather was CAVOK with a South Easterly breeze and 35 pilots turned
out throughout the day, which kept 3 aeroplanes busy until bad
light stopped play! Thank to all of you for your support and making
the day such a success, the results are as follows;
3rd (joint) Tim Hancock / Sean Morvan 45/100
2nd Dale Curtin 60/100
1st Derik Mare 75/100
