Once again the club trip to Bagnoles was a great success.
Bagnoles Aero Club provided minibuses and drivers at the airfield. However, most of us took advantage of the excellent weather, put our luggage on the minibuses and walked to the hotels.
We normally stay at the Hotel Normandie but on this occasion the trip was so popular that I had to book more rooms at the Hotel Crystal – so the group was split into two.
On the Friday night we all did our own thing but inevitably met up in informal groups in the various restaurants to be found in Bagnoles.
On the Saturday we took a scenic walk from the town, passing through the woods to the airfield to welcome some late arrivals. The temperature was rising to the point where ice creams were melting before we could eat them so on our return to Bagnoles in an attempt to cool off we had a go on the pedaloes on the lake. Others shopped, ate and generally relaxed.
In the evening the Hotel Normandie provided a lovely meal and we exchanged gifts with the Aero Club d’Andaines – formalising our twinning. One of the minibus drivers re-appeared in full local costume and to everyone’s delight entertained us for the night, singing and playing the accordion.
On the Sunday we returned to Jersey with happy memories of a great trip. This article is an extract from Jersey Flyer Spring 2007 (2.86 MB)
