In 2007 Charles Strasser, representing AOPA (CI) and Jennifer Bridge, representing Jersey Aero Club, started negotiations with the Director of GST over the implementation of the tax on general aviation. The outcome is that GST will not be charged by Fuel Supplies to locally based aircraft having a credit account with them nor by the JAC to visiting GA aircraft. This is on the basis that by far the major portion of the fuel uplifted will in effect be exported as all flights going "foreign" come under that category. As regards the JAC fleet, because a fair portion of their fuel usage is for training without going "foreign" and is therefore not exported, an arrangement has been agreed with the GST authority that Fuel Supplies will only apply the 3% GST to that percentage of fuel used for local training as notified to them by the JAC. |
