The Jersey Aero Club has devised a flying programme aimed at encouraging PPL holders to renew and develop their flying skills.

The ‘Post PPL Development Programme’ comprises both compulsory and optional elements and involves ten hours flying and five hours ground training.

‘We are trying to encourage PPL holders to continue flying,’ said Director of Flying Jennifer Bridge. ‘Some members have not flown for a while and may have lost confidence in certain areas, such as speaking French, or may feel some of their basic skills are a bit rusty.  We are hoping to welcome back flyers that we have not seen in a while.  Also, we would like to give low hours PPL holders something to aim for to improve their skills and give them confidence to join club trips to France or solo hire.’

The programme’s compulsory elements include improved general handling skills – max rate level turns, max rate possible turns; stall revision and advanced stalling; emergencies: PFL’s, EFATOS, fuel, stuck throttle, engine mechanical failure, fire, etc; and
circuits and landings – short field, flapless, precision landings, grass strips. The optional elements cover Airspace: French revision/UK airspace.

On receiving ‘JAC advanced wings’ a member will receive 10% discount on the flying rate for a period of 12 months.
